Resveratrol for Herpes
If I tell you that this article is about Resveratrol and herpes, most of you would be perplexed. First of all, a majority of you may not be aware of Resveratrol, although some of you may have an idea about herpes. For the benefit of all, let us first take a look at the two and understand what they are all about.
To combat fungal injuries and infections, a substance called Phytoalexin is produced by plants. Resveratrol is also a form of Phytoalexin. In other words, it is a compound found naturally in the seeds, skin, roots, stem and vines of grapes, mostly the red grapes. Resveratrol is also found in mulberries, peanuts and Japanese knotweed. When you are infected with the simplex virus, you become susceptible to herpes which normally causes cold sores and genital herpes. The interesting link about Resveratrol and herpes is that Resveratrol is highly effective against the herpes simplex virus (both type 1 &2). Research has now proven this. It not only hinders the reproduction process of the simplex virus but also prevents the infection from spreading and recurring, thus making it dormant. So, the next time somebody asks you the connection between Resveratrol and herpes, you know what to tell them.
There are two types of Resveratrol; natural form called trans and synthetic form called cis. When a cream made out of the natural form was tested on mice with vaginal herpes, it proved to be very effective. Even though tests made on mice do not necessarily apply to humans as well, at least half the results proven on mice might be effective on humans as well. So, we can logically expect that the cream may work on humans too. So, does it make sense in saying that there is a connection between Resveratrol and herpes?
Some more proof is needed before the FDA can be totally convinced that there is indeed chemistry between Resveratrol and herpes and it is absolutely safe to use the cream supplement. However, if you choose to buy the cream at your own risk, ensure that you get it from a highly regarded source. Natural supplement forms are better than the synthetic ones. Trying to use products when you are not sure of their source or based on free advice available on the internet can be quite dangerous. Unless you are doubly sure of a certain product or its strength, avoid using such products.
Resveratrol, when used along with Vitamin A also helps the immune system to function properly and in containing the simplex virus. The correct dosage of these supplements should be administered after keeping in mind the safety limits. In order to make Resevratrol and herpes a winning combination, take some time and money to find the right supplements.
